Let’s preface this message by saying you can ALWAYS better your best. I hear people say all the time “I eat healthy.” “I work out” The truth is there’s always something to tweak to be an even better version of yourself. Here are some of my tips (in no particular order) that helped me transform for the better over the years:

  • Get out of your head. We live most of our lives in our head. Make sure it’s a nice place to be. Practice meditation and mindfulness and see how it can shift your whole being.
  • Surround yourself with people who inspire you, not drain or deplete you. Enough said.
  • Cold showers. Thank you Wim Hof for teaching us that cold treatment helps reduce inflammation in the body, increases circulation and boosts energy. Start with a warm shower and gradually go colder. Think of it as a challenge. Who doesn’t love a good challenge? Another added benefit? The mirror won’t be fogged when you get out. Ha ha.
  • A consistent yoga practice. I found yoga in 1998 when I lost a close cousin on Christmas Eve in a sudden car accident. Yoga quickly became my therapy, my church and my spiritual healer. Yoga is mandatory in navigating through life’s stresses and challenges.Once a week is all you need to get the ball rolling as consistency equals growth.
  • Ditch the caffeine. I quit caffeine three years ago and haven’t looked back. The withdrawal headache lasted about a week but I got through it. You can too. Sleep will improve, energy levels will rise and anxiety will decrease. Mushroom coffee is a fantastic alternative and MUCH healthier. It’s a win win!
  • Intermittent Fasting. I started IF, or time restricted eating, back in 2018 as a search for something different. I was eating small meals all day, starting as early as 5am and going til after dinner. I was ALWAYS tired and hungry. Intermittent fasting gives your system a rest from being in overdrive as it’s digesting all day and instead uses that energy to rebuild cells. It turns your body into a fat burning machine as it uses fat for fuel instead of food. Eating within an 8 hour window became a game changer for me. People always ask me if you have to eat healthy in that window to reap the rewards. Yes of course but you treat yourself when you feel the need. Moderation is key.
  • Work towards being alcohol free. Your body and brain will thank you. I am over 500 days alcohol free and have never felt better. Skin is smooth, no more brain fog, sleep is better and anxiety is WAY less! The ten pounds I could never lose is finally gone too!
  • Move your body. Take the steps. Park further away from your destination so you can get more steps in. 15-30 minutes a day is all you need as movement is medicine.
  • Consume foods that will fight disease, not fuel it. More fruits, veggies & fish and less sugar and processed foods
  • Get outside! Commit to 10 minutes a day to get outside, walk and breathe some fresh air. It will change your whole day around. Try doing it without being attached to your phone. Use it as a break so you can go back to whatever you were doing with a little more peace & clarity.

Let me know if you have any questions or comments as I love chatting all things wellness! Remember, most habits take 22-66 days to kick in. Be patient and take one day at a time.We only get one shot in this life and the goal is to increase, not decrease, our longevity.

Namaste, friends.
